The key is creating software which works seamlessly with the existing alarm equipment, monitoring zone and alarm changes as well as effecting changes on the panel based on communication with other devices. The paradox panel does have alot of relay capability, but it does lack the home automation features and logic control which a product such as pi can provide. My thought is, why reinvent the wheel? There are plenty of very affordable security alarm panels with RS232 and ip communication capability. There is some willingness to work together on his end, if that is still valid I do not know. Paradox, a Canadian manufacturer, who's owner I know fairly well, has a great system and I have spoken with him at length about integration with Linux. So how is it integrating with the alarm system and which panel? Owning a Security Alarm Automation company, as well as a Security/Automation wholesale business, I have access to the equipment needed as well as some source code and inside information from some manufacturors who are willing to share to create something bigger They charge 400 bucks plus for a mini server which could be put together with a Raspberry pi and maybe Arduino. If you or anyone else on here is interested in really moving forward on some raspberry pi home automation, video surveillance etc type project, drop me a line and or join the team at these sites are completely unrelated to LOXONE Electronics of Austria. Drop me a line through the contact page on or Yup, once I decided to move forward with the Open Source Home Automation project LoxOne Automation (Not related to LOXONE Electronics) I figured it was only wise to protect the name, seeing as it was unfortunately close to that of another company who wanted to force me to change the name of my pre existing projectĪnyhow, here is the link I was talking about. I know there is an adaptor board that gives you the low voltage triggers. I was just thumbing through some of the posts and I ran across this one, sure they are talking servo's and LED's the thing is, once you have a voltage trip, you can trip whatever you want. After all, communication also saves lives – and that is the most important function of all. That is exactly what got me interested in Raspberry pi. This informs colleagues about the incident and enables them to help without delay. When somebody presses the button, an automatic text message is immediately read out over the loudspeakers in certain zones of the building. Loxone’s “text-to-speech” function has proven useful in Barcelona, as emergency calls can be made via panic buttons. This is especially crucial for seminar rooms and open-place offices. The ventilation is precisely controlled using the Loxone App, and it is automatically activated whenever necessary. Last but not least, the headquarters of the Red Cross in Barcelona are also worth a closer look. Technology junkies should watch this video (available in German). Lighting, shading, heating, cooling, multimedia, music, access controls, alarm system and video surveillance – fully automated with three Miniservers. Inventx AG is just one of the companies here – the IT specialist in the finance and insurance sector has fitted the whole spectrum of Loxone services. This 180,000 m² behemoth contains numerous offices, plus hotels, restaurants and shops. Another extraordinary project is “The Circle” at Zurich airport.
